At time of writing (late Sept, 2023) I’ve self published 20 non fiction books on Amazon plus one fiction book (novella) in a little over two years. And I have three books on the go that will be published in October…taking me to 23. I believe that writing books (plural intended) is one of the best business moves you can make to differentiate yourself from the sea of writers using Chat-GPT to create social media style posts.

Ask yourself this question: if you wanted to hire a freelancer and Writer A sent you some links to posts and Writer B offered to send you a copy of his book, which writer do you favour before you’ve even read a word of their content?

Or say you were thinking about hiring someone and got two emails: Writer A looking for work and has links to posts but Writer B can send you a copy of their book. The writer with a published book is already positioned better than the writer who doesn’t have one.

In many situations having written books is like taking a bazooka to a knife fight. (Excuse the mangling of the pun.)

Every week I’ll publish a newsletter that will talk about aspects of self publishing (with Amazon KDP), writing, the deliberate practice of writing. And maybe get to business stuff for writers, flow, hero’s journeys and more.

Who Is P.T.Wolfe (the writer behind Practice The Write Stuff)?

Who I am – in one paragraph:

“I’m a writer – fiction and non-fiction – trapped by economics and resistance in the body of an online music educator.”

So dive in. Check it out. Email and ask questions about things you’re not sure about. I’m planning to create a library of content that will help you if you want to:

  • Learn more about self publishing

  • Learn more about how to apply deliberate practice to your writing

  • Learn about some of the things NOT to do (that I learned the hard way)

Onwards.
